Sideline better than hospital for Ben

When the coach tells you to get your head in the game, Ben, he doesn't mean for target practice. Actually, Roethlisberger was just about everything a coach could ask for in the first half of our meeting with the Atlanta Falcons Sunday. Then another blow to the head and Big Ben was out, maybe even unconscious, for about five minutes, and out of play for the rest of the game. Possibly next week against the Oakland Raiders, too. Scary at any time, but even scarier for a young guy who has had a serious head injury and major surgery within months previous.

Got to give some credit to Charlie Batch for stepping in and passing for nearly 200 yards and two touchdowns. But we made a number of screwups and Atlanta took advantage of all of them. We did a lot of good stuff, but they did more.

Ben & Jerry’s for Pittsburgh’s Ben?

It’s good to be back at my keyboard after this summer’s various detours, some of which made me a little more empathetic with the Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger. Hospitals are just no fun! Hope you’ve and the team have gotten some rest during the bye week, Ben – along with some running practice Bill Cowher is prescribing!

I understand the coach would like Ben to pack a few pounds back on, too! How do I get my doctor to order me to snack at night?
